Pastor Alice Bolen

Pastor Alice was born and raised on a farm in West Central Illinois. Attending a very small Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), beginning in the nursery through high school gave her a good foundation for her faith. She ventured off to Missouri for college, graduating from Culver-Stockton College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology.

She married her college sweetheart, John Bolen. They have two children. Brian is married, has three children and lives near Pleasantville, Iowa. Amy is married, lives in Des Moines and has two step-sons.

For fourteen years Pastor Alice served the church as an Associate Regional Minister for the Christian Church in the Upper Midwest (Iowa, Minnesota and South Dakota). Following graduation from United Theological Seminary in Minneapolis in Perry, Iowa and served as their pastor for 8½ years. She has been pastor at Runnells Christian Church for 3 years.

She and John enjoy gardening on their acreage east of Runnells. John now serves as the Associate Academic Dean and Registrar at Simpson College in Indianola. They also love spending time with their grandchildren. Pastor Alice loves to read and usually has at least two books in progress.
