Annual Events

This annual event is held on the first Sunday of Advent (the 4 weeks prior to Christmas). In 2005 this will be November 27. This event is held at 5 p.m. At the Hanging of the Greens service everyone gets to participate as we decorate the church and remind ourselves f the meaning of each of the decorations. There are activities for children, youth, and adults during the one hour service. The finale is to surround the sanctuary in candlelight and acknowledge that Christ is the light in our lives.

The second Saturday in November is the Bazaar and Harvest Dinner sponsored by the CWF. This day begins with homemade cinnamon rolls and coffee and te opening of the Bazaar at 10:00 a.m. The Bazaar is a sale of homemade baked goods and homemade craft items created by the members of the congregation. There is a light lunch served at noon. The Bazaar is open in the evening also as people gather for a dinner of roast beef, mashed potatoes, home grown sweet corn, other vegetables, salad, and pie. The cost of the dinner is announced each fall. This event is open to the public and all are invited.

On the first Sunday evening of Advent, November 27, 2005. This event follows the Hanging of the Greens service. It begins with a light supper which is furnished, and is followed by the now famous "candy auction" where everything, including homemade candy, gets auctioned and all of the proceeds are used for local outreach needs within the Southeast Polk School District.
Everyone is welcome to participate as a donor and/or bidder.

This is the first Sunday for Sunday School each fall. This year it is September 18. It usually begins with special treats at 9:00 a.m. followed by the first classes at 9:15. Then following worship at 11:30 there is a catered luncheon, games outside, and entertainment.

The first Sunday in October churches of many denominations celebrate our common call to the Lord's Table. There is a special worship service on this day which acknowledges our connection to churches around the world.
